Day I: Scene of the accident
it took me a month and more to realize how lucky i am to end up in production support - i mean literally it is just so much of a privilege. A call of duty is really a life-defining moment in this job and apparently some ppl like me who don't pay too much heed and like 2 have time 4 themselves on weekends are committing crime of the most serious nature.
It was the first weekend of the month and we "the guys" decided to watch avatar in IMAX 3D finally (not to mention d amount of coaxing these guys took to watch the movie in 3D ). Anyways i was pretty excited about that and we managed to land up with a 0945 hours ka ticket and reached the theatre just in time. It's funny how the equations of a "8 hour sleep" and "beauty sleep" all change when you have a much anticipated morning show to catch up.
Moving on just outside the theatre, struggling with the gargantuan size of the popcorn tub and trying to find my way into the theater(i mean seriously d dome concept and all is cool but its hell of an adventure ride getting 2 ur seat) and much to my chagrin, i got a call from office. I being me decided 2 ignore it and went inside the theater where thanks to whosoever sud b thanked there was no signal.
Happily i lived through the movie and got out vividly describing and engaging in conversations about the movie when my phone rang again. I after much coaxing frm my conscience decided to pick up the call and realised that the call in the morning was for me going back to office to extract 2 reports( i mean what on earth are u thinking man !! frm wadala road to andheri to extract 2 reports..bah !!) Anyways i somehow wriggled out of that situation more due to benevolence and kindness of my colleague than my cheekiness.
Day II : The realization seeps in
As i reached my office i thought it might b a wise decision to confront my colleague who was calling me yesterday b4 he approaches me and kills me by guilt. As i approached his desk and began 2 offer my apologies he pounced upon me and made sure that i get the effort he made in coming 2 2 days on a weekend. All that was fine when suddenly in the middle of my guilt trip, the other guy Mr. A dropped on me the most hilariously ridiculous line i had ever heard:
"In production support you have to answer your call immediately and a delay of 7 hours is unacceptable on a Sunday "
and it just struck me that i have absolutely no clue about the significance of this job. I mean is FBI listening ??..i mean stop looking so serious guys in all dose movies that u feature in and look @the unheralded , production support guy standing at one corner of the room coz he has the most important job in the world !!
