protect the MAHATMA !!!

it Shocks me to know what Mayawati has to say about the Father of the Nation. iT absolutely disgusts me that someone who is so morally pious(sarcasm intended) should be making such comments abt Gandhi. At the outset let me admit that i admire the man , i admire him like i admire other freedom fighters of that time coz they must have played some role or the other for us to become free and make what we have made of ourselves on Aug 16th,2009. i mite even admit that i even think quite highly of him considering that i read so good about him in books and didnt have the intellectual ability then to think that this all of this mite not be entirely true.
tHAT theory has now been dispelled with and i cant agree more with the fact tat Gandhi maynot have been the most pious man in the entire universe but just as i accept someting like dis i think it's equally important to realise tat he played a much more significant role in making us independent than all of us combined and for that he deserves a fair amount of respect ..doesn't he ??
& i wonder if he ever demanded so much of worship and devotion...did he ever standup at the middle of the road saying..idolize me after i die...put my faceprint on the indian rupee..or put up my photograph in government buildings..it wil always remain a dispute if Tagore first called him Mahatma but what is clear is he never demanded it. y cudnt we just accept him as a freedom fighter fighting against the British,albeit using different means than the rest of the world.
Isn't it because we wanted a national hero, we wanted an idol to look up to, our previous generation wanted to think of a human image which wud remind them of something infallible someone pure of soul and give them confidence to take on the world and to leave a mark. 2 be like Gandhi or Mahatma or Bapu or Father of the nation. or were we so selfish that we thought it's so better to be known as a country which was the birth place of an internationally renowned figure like Gandhi, afterall the NObel prize committee expressed their regrets for not having given him the peace prize.

Did we just decide to worship him coz he brought a sense of recognition to a newly independent country. ??
mAYBE. coz today wen we don need a gandhi anymore..today wen we are recognized by our software exports as much as by our Bollywood exports and today when we have sports achievers to look up to the image of Gandhi has become redundant. He is someone we have used to the fullest to build up an image on the international world,leave an imprint on the big stage that we are done with it ...MOVE OVER GANDHI....bring on mayawati...criticize him,deride him,bring forth his sexual perversions..label him a natakbaaz...accuse him of whatever he has done and watever he has not coz dis country and the collective conscience of the new ,confident generation of modern indians doesnt need him so they wil agree with u de will sit with u talk about a man who is not alive to defend himself and question whether he deserves to be called the father of the nation...!!! tAKE a bow, iNDIANS..
as a matter of fact let Mayawati be known that eating meals and visiting homes of dalits doesnt ameliorate dere situation but neither does building statues in ur names..for god's sake it amuses me that we are paying attention to someone who earmarks more funds for statue building than kept aside for bailing out drought hit people.

does she even deserve to be mentioned in d same breath as Gandhi..?? do her comments on Gandhi deserve one inch of newsprint space??
& while finding out the answers to these questions dere's a wry smile on my face wen i find out that d SC can't pass a rule making respecting Gandhi a compulsion and at the same time cant do anything about mayawati building a 18ft tall statue of herself and spending close to Rs 600 cr more on statue building than bailing out the drought hit states of UP.
or maybe i am missing the whole point ..she is by doing this providing lawful employment to the statue makers of UP .
